In the spirit of being festive we wanted to wish ourselves a Happy 20th Anniversary and take a peak back at all our amazing years in business!

IMG_0004Here are a couple questions answered by John Reither, CEO & Owner and Shurette Reither, Business Manager & Co-Owner, reflecting on RC and the industry!
(Q)DESCRIBE A TYPICAL DAY AT WORK:

(A) Shurette – My day is very flexible.  Our office is out of our home so I basically could get up and go right to the desk in my pajamas which most days that is what I do.  I handle all of the bookkeeping-accounts receivables and payables, jobsite expenses, sub payments, accountant questions, background checks that need to be performed, etc.  Somedays I do run to the job site to drop off supplies or just to check in.  One of the more pleasant aspects of my job is to socialize with the customer on a personal level getting to know them so when the time comes to give them a thank you gift, I have an idea of what to purchase whether we cook them dinner, take them out or give them a gift basket with their favorite things.

(A) John – My duties are making sure my customers are happy with our work.  Making sure the jobs are running smoothly.  This is the first thing I do every day.  Next is “ABS”  Always Be Selling!  Meeting customers, estimating, meeting suppliers.
(Q) WHAT IS THE GREATEST CHALLENGE THAT YOU AND YOUR BUSINESS FACE THESE DAYS?:

(A) Shurette– I think hiring subs.  We have been fortunate to really gain a professional relationship with many subs but we also realize it is very challenging because we have to trust them in our customer’s homes.

(A) John – Finding quality people for our crews and sometimes shaking bushes finding work!

(Q) WHAT IS THE OFFICE ENVIRONMENT LIKE? PLEASE EXPLAIN:

(A) Shurette – I mentioned earlier that we have our office out of our home.  Many days it is John, Nicole and myself working out of our small office or even in the kitchen.  I will admit that there are days when it can be a challenge but at the end of the day we try to remember that work stays at work and family is the most important thing.  We are fortunate that we all three get along well and we can either talk things through or let things go pretty easily.

(A) John – It is a home office, only 2 to 3 of us work in it.  No real problems or issues.  I work with my wife and daughter but we are all a good mix.

(Q) WHAT MAKES YOUR LINE OF WORK REWARDING AT THE END OF THE DAY?  WHY DO YOU DO IT?:

(A) Shurette – Before remodeling, John was a system analyst/programmer and had to travel quite often.  We decided when our children were young that we wanted him to be able to attend all of their school functions, sports, etc.  John always liked remodeling and woodworking so he quit the professional world to make a go of being an entrepreneur.  We have had struggles ~ bad economy, feast or famine times in the last 20 years but we are also very proud that we have made our living being our own boss.  We love seeing the remodel from start to finish, knowing all the hard work that went into it and most importantly seeing the customer so darn happy to have it completed!

(A) John – Seeing my customers face when we are making progress and finishing the job.  Making dreams happen.  Like I say, “We make you want to go to the bathroom and love it” haha!

Thanks to all our customers who have made our dream of owning Reither Construction possible all these years!
