We know that Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks and eating yourself into a food induced coma.  However, it is also a time for your loved ones to end up smack dab in the middle of your living room, kitchen and bathroom.  But don’t stress,  Turkey Day can be fun, relaxing and restful if you check out these seven projects to consider before the big day.

1.  Take Time for Toitey:  Thanksgiving will test your toilet.  Second only to Super Bowl Sunday, Thanksgiving is a very busy day for the water closet.  If it is acting up now…chances are it could have a melt down when the flushing frequency goes up.

2.  Finish the Basement:  Okay, depending on your plans for your basement that may be pretty aggressive with materials selection and ordering since Thanksgiving is less than a month away.  But it is possible to finish a small basement or to do a partial finish so at least you can spend time down there.  With the cold weather, chances are your outdoor living space will spend a good portion of the season out of commission.  If your time indoors leaves you feeling a little crowded, look to your basement for room to roam.

3.  Fix Major Home Appliances:  From pumpkin pie to sweet potatoes the holiday season is a busy time for most kitchens.  Clothes washers and dryers often pull an extra shift or two during the holidays as well.  If your appliances aren’t working as well as they should, call an appliance repair professional before the holidays arrive.

4.  Exterior Paint:  Fall offers plenty of days that are warm enough to work with exterior paint and a touch-up can help prolong the life of your siding and trim.

5.  Lawn Care:  To ensure your lawn’s health and beauty come spring, complete several important yard work projects in the fall.

6.  Prepare for Snow Removal:  Get bids from snow removal professionals in your area before that first flake falls.  Keeping your walks free of ice and snow is a vital part of wintertime safety but venturing outside with a snow shovel in the dead of winter is an unpleasant task for most of us.

7.  Clean Carpets:  Fall is the perfect time to clean your carpets.  It’s the best time to open windows for ventilation which should speed the drying process.

So sit down, relax and enjoy your time with your loved ones.  Leave your holiday worries at the door!
